The 2017 Pittsburgh Recovery Walk

Date: Saturday, September 16, 2017

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Location: It will begin at 10th and Penn and will proceed down Liberty Avenue to Market Square where there will be a Recovery Expo with speakers, activities and entertainment.

The Pittsburgh Recovery Walk celebrates the many roads to recovery from addiction and all those who have traveled them. It is completely free and open to the public. Register here.

Norwin School District presents "Operation Prevention:  The Science Behind Opioid Addiction- Parent Information Forum" 

Parents will learn about: The Seriousness of the Drug Epidemic, The Reality of Overdose Deaths in Westmoreland County, and The Operation Prevention 7th and 8th Grade Curriculum.

This event is free and open to the public.

Baldwin-Whitehall School District presents an Evening Parent Program

DATE:  Thursday, February 16, 2017

TIME:   6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m

Baldwin-Whitehall School District is presenting an Evening Parent Program at the Harrison Middle School.  There will be a representative from Gateway Rehabilitation speaking about the “Current Trends in Adolescent Drug Use.”  A DEA representative will be on-hand to help address any questions or concerns from the parents.

“Off-Script”

March 30, 2016

Saltworks Theater Company and DEA will be sponsoring this play on March 30, 2016, at Mt. Pleasant Area High School. “Off-Script” a play regarding the misuse of prescription drugs that is often overlooked. “Off-Script” follows the life styles of an athlete, scholar and supplier. It takes us through the athlete that gets injured, gets addicted to Opioids, after exhausting the pain pills he turns to Heroin which is cheaper. It talks about the students going into recovery and being away from their friends. The play is geared toward a high school audience.

“Off-Script” will also be featured at Gateway High School and New Kensington-Arnold High School in the upcoming weeks.
